Be patient and find time for everyday practice, because this kind of self-discipline will definitely pay off! You will gain a sense of security, feel that the world around you is good and you will consciously deepen your connection with the Source of Life. In this article I present you the first technique - meditation.
MEDITATION
Meditation is an ancient technique which primary use is to calm and clear the mind from an excess of information and set of beliefs. It helps us to go beyond thoughts and stop identifying ourselves with them. It allows us to experience deep peace and connection with the spiritual world. Thanks to meditation, we achieve greater and greater depth, getting closer to the spiritual dimensions. The closer we are to this level, the easier it is for us to obtain higher knowledge, spiritual guidance and unconditional love. All this is an inseparable part of us, but every day we are too focused on the outside world, instead of connecting with God, which results in the lack of perception of this depth. Meditation helps us to stop and direct the waves of our consciousness inside, to the divine essence, our connection with God. Meditation is a way to achieve peace of mind and soothe nerves, helping to slow down the mind and experience freedom from mental turmoil. When we learn to direct our energy inside, we experience bliss, unity, love and raise our life energy. When we go beyond our thoughts and emotions, we enter the ocean of blissful silence, a quantum sea full of possibilities, higher dimensions of existence. It is there that we can hear helpful tips from our guides, angels, and light beings. We can hear it only on the vibration of unconditional love, for these beings are usually not on the lower vibrations.
Classic meditation consists in calming your mind, usually in a sitting position (however, there are meditations in motion, running or dancing), with your eyes closed. If you have difficulty going beyond your thoughts, try to focus on the breath during the first meditations - not on thoughts about it, but on the sound it makes or the experience of breathing in itself. In this way, you will remain focused, get rid of excess mental activity and maintain awareness of here and now. Remember to let go of your mind and allow yourself to focus on your breath. When you learn to meditate, it will be easier for you to formulate bright, positive and clear thoughts, and this will help you make many good changes in different areas of your life. Meditation is a tool that helps us to remain aware of the sea of possibilities that radiates with love, healing and joy. It allows you to get a perspective from our own thoughts, to keep emotional balance and to feel peace in our mind. This technique leads us to experience the truth about ourselves without criticism, punishment or judgment.
9 reasons why you should meditate
1. Meditation improves brain functions
There are a lot of study proving this. Areas that grow during regular meditation (prefrontal cortex) are primarily responsible for our strong will, concentration, and memory. The study found that practicing just 25 minutes of Hatha yoga or mindfulness meditation per day can boost the brain's executive functions, cognitive abilities linked to goal-directed behaviour and the ability to control knee-jerk emotional responses, habitual thinking patterns and actions. During meditation, the blood supply to the prefrontal cortex increases. This is an exercise for the brain, like lifting weights for increasing muscle mass. If you need, you can search for researches on this topic, because there are a lot of analysis on the Internet.
2. Meditators are more emphatic and sensitive
Research concerns Tibetan monks who have over 10,000 hours of meditation behind them... It was proved that the monks were able to reject their suffering in order to focus on the suffering of others. This allows them to look at reality in a more conscious way. Their reactions to negative and positive stimuli such as baby crying, optimistic music were much more intense. They showed much more merciful responses to these sensations.
3. Contrary to appearances, meditators are also emotionally stronger
These monks from the second point, unlike the control group, were more aware of and in control of their emotional states. This is a completely logical consequence of increasing the level of self-control.
4. By meditating regularly, you increase the time of full concentration
Our time of full concentration decreases over the years. How does reading books affect the brain? You can easily check it for yourself. Sit down, relax, close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply. Focus only on it, breathe and count your breaths. Note the moment when your attention will try to focus on something other than counting - after what time did this occur? Meditation promotes the formation of new connections in the prefrontal cortex. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for self-control. Self-control allows us to increase the time and quality of concentration.
5. People who meditate react less habitually
By meditating, you increase your level of self-awareness, work on strong will and concentration. These elements allow you to fight your habitual reactions. It is important because over 40% or even 50% of all actions taken by man are habits that are subconscious actions. A habit is a three-step loop. First, a hint appears (message sound), then comes time for a routine (I take out the phone), time for reward (feeling that I am needed). Strong will allows you to ignore the hint if something is more important at the moment (writing this article). Have you ever heard the sound of the message and nothing came? It's addiction.
6. Meditation promotes creativity
The psychology of creativity considers an important feature of creative thinking all behaviours that are aimed at overcoming habits that were created by working on a given problem. Meditation helps to fight habits!
7. Meditators are more interested in life and sociable
There is a lot of research on meditation. It is not surprising that in 2012 it was decided to compare their results. 125 reliable articles were selected for statistical analysis. It turned out that the test results overlap. Their credibility was proved in this way. In the collected studies, meditation had the strongest impact on social openness and life satisfaction. In addition, a positive effect on emotions, concentration and attention has also been indicated, although to a slightly lesser extent.
8. After 4 days of meditation for 20 minutes you can see the changes
63 students took part in the experiment. Half of them were taught meditation by an experienced teacher, and the exercise consisted of closing their eyes and focusing on the breath. The other half was reading Tolkien's book. Compared to the control group, meditating students showed a higher level of self-control, reduced their level of fatigue, and performed better tasks requiring attention and cognitive functions.
And you, what advantages of meditation do you see?
